Matt/Splinter [GM Application]

What is your name and IGN?
My real name is Matias, but I'd rather get called Matt.
I've played under two different names during my time here, Matt and Splinter.

What is your age?
I'm fifteen years old, turned 15 in april already. Fifteen might sound young to you guys who are older, but don't underestimate me.

Where do you live and your contact information?
I live in Europe, Finland - Helsinki. For the people who don't know here it is, it's up north. [GMT +2]. I've got MSN yes, but I rather keep it private, so if you want it just ask me. Either way, you can contact me by PMing me on the forums right here.

Give a little summary about yourself.
Well, I'm a really mature guy and I play floorball and icehockey. I also hang out with friends and like to party (Don't we all do).
I also like to be on the computer and just relax playing Maplestory and so on.. I hang out with my friends alot but don't worry, that will not affect my GM work or my activity.
I'm unfortunately not a english native speaker but I manage to speak and write pretty fluent english.

How long have you been playing (GMS and PS) Maplestory?
I've been playing Maplestory overall for about 5 - 6 years, I think maplestory came out in 2003 so I pretty much played from the beginning. So I should have a perfect knowledge of all the acitivites going on in the game. I played GMS for about 2 years, then I moved to EMS and played there for a couple of years aswell. Then I simply got bored and moved to playing Privateservers.

How long have you been on HostileStory?
I started maybe a month ago, maybe 5 weeks. Not sure, I don't count. Yeah I made a application before and noticed that it just got locked and so on, so I decided to give it a another shot and hope this time it will end up better.

Have you had any prior experience as a GM?
I've been a GM in my friends server and in my own opinion I did pretty well. I'm pretty familiar with the commands as a GM and what I am supposed to do.
I've also been following other GMs on how they act and what they do, which is pretty obvious and I pretty much understand everything they do.

How long are you willing to play each day?
It does depend if I have exams that day or something similiar. But I will be online average 2 - 4 hours a day.
I have also noticed you have a lack of europian GM's so I tought I'd fit in pretty good, Lia is the only one playing at my timezone [GMT +2] and she's really active which is awesome. Other than that I only see Chris, Ally, Tim etc for about one hour or less each day, because I have to go sleep when they come home from school, which sucks.

Are you friendly with other people?
Yup. I'm a real friendly fella. I love making new friends and communicating with other people and I'm sure I'd come along great.
During my time as a player here in Hostile, I've been helping other people by guiding them trogh the maps and giving them tips on how to begin.
I've felt really comfortable with helping people and I come along with other people.

Why we should pick you as a GM?
I am really good at communicating and teamworking with other people. So I'm pretty sure I'll come along extremely well.
I'm also very eager to help people and guide them trough. And as I said I do have experience playing maplestory so I pretty much know the technics of the game.
I will surely keep the server clean of hackers and others issues. I will be eager to help each and everyone who asks for help from me, and I will help them as good as I can.

Is there anything you are good at to support this server?
I have awesome communicating skills, but unfortunately I am not familiar with any GFX'ing or scripting. Anyway, I'm sure I'd be a really good asset to the GM team because I have alot of experience and I've been a member of the server a pretty long time now and I know how the things work in here.

What WILL you do as a GM in this server?
I will make sure the server stays clean and the community stays as awesome as it is now. I will do my duty as I'm told to and I will not let you down. If you ask me to do something, then I'll do it. I'm not the guy who fights and argues about stuff, if someone wants a fight or gets angry at me, then I'll stay calm and try to solve the issue without arguing.
As a GM you also have the priority to entertain people, so I will of course hold events and different activities for the players. It's really sad to see people sit in FM and telling me that they are bored.

What do you think takes to be a good GM?
First of all you need good communicating skills which is definetely needed to help people in need. Secondly you need time to be online and keep the community active. A good GM is always friendly and has a good mood, we don't want any nervous and angry people in the community, do we? Also a good GM does his job, and not does not screw around as it was a sand-box. When he is told to do something, then he/she does do it.

What would you do if you saw someone hacking?
If I saw someone hacking, I would definetely spectate him for a few seconds and confirm that he is surely hacking and not lagging/bugging whatsoever. And after I've confirmed this I would ban him right away. No doubt.
And if there was only screenshots or people saying that someone hacked (Which happened here a few days ago...) I would probably first study the pictures and investigate the case by talking to each and everyone who was involved in the situation. After this I would talk to Chris and we'd probably think about the issue together and what the solution would be.
